Going into the private ward of Northampton General Hospital ‘to have a little trouble put right’. Cold weather glad to have wood from trees that have had cut down and some very good coal. Joe and Miriam at Grantham for various meetings, thinks Miriam quite enjoying the social part. Hopes ‘Mr Churchill wont get his cold any worse coming home. I expect you heard his speech that was broadcast, I thought it was wonderful for a man of his age. Joe says Mr Eden is thought a lot of, You don’t hear anybody say anything against him, on either side. All the same they have got a tough job in front of them & the opposition wont try to make it any easier.’ Norah and Mrs Tinney to tea they had had a New Year dance in their dining room 42 all together.
