Couldn’t go home on Dad’s birthday had sent car to have cylinders cleaned out and then had to send it to makers in London, just before the strike began and still without it. Ethel had a bad accident ‘was run into from the back – by a racing cyclist – (she was walking) & has concussion of the brain I do not think it is severe – but she is still in bed & can only speak just above a whisper. She is at her sisters in the village. So now I don’t know when shall get there as I cant leave Janie this time of year with all the boys at home as they are on Sunday – There is always such a lot of washing up with milk things separator etc.’ Trying to get a foreman. Will home tomorrow. Cleaned the nursery. Chickens, butter. ‘Our boys have just got Shackletons “South” from the library, I think it will be very interesting. We had Scott’s last expedition a little while ago & that was. Our George reads a great deal, in fact they all are rather bookish except Bill. It has been all Tarzan books for some time & I cant have patience to read them.’ Has a brown ready made costume for spring and summer. Has been knitting jumper for herself. Gardening and remembering Mother’s weeding. ‘Baby wears little knitted suits now & runs about well & talks quite a lot in his way…’
