Edgar’s shepherd left without notice. ‘We hear from Ernest pretty regular and we heard from the Hertfordshire Ag Committee they say they cannot let him off but he perhaps may come for a month on farm work & asked when we wanted him so Dad said the end of this month it remains to be seen wether he comes’ Glad to hear they had nice Easter, Mr & Mrs Goodson came they caught a badger in the cover. ‘Their daughter Mrs Phillips (May) has lost her Husband, has left two Children. Emila’s husband is in France they have two boys. How very said it is for our poor soldiers to be losing ground so much Elsie has always told me I should have faith, I wanted to, but I am afraid I did not. Joyce has been quite industrious with her music to have learnt so many hymns. You have been quite lively with entertaining guests, quite new names to me. Edith and Elsie went to Tring on Wed evening to a Concert entertainment for St Dunstan Hospital, it was quiet a success I Fancy, Miss Turner especially. Harrold has begun going to school it is rather a long walk…We have 15 Turkey Eggs don’t know if they are good/ hens eggs 5/4’
