  • Scope and Content
Charles and his various attempts to make his will. Have Elsie Stevens back again she thinks Puttenham very dull ‘and so it is, for even I sometimes feel it so when Elsie is away and only Dad and I are here. Unfortunately we don’t see things in the same way and so cannot talk of things we might. Things that interest him don’t interest me a bit. I often her where the hounds ran to or how many hares were caught but can’t possibly enter into it much…’ This is the Woburn day. Dad’s cold better. Hopes kiddies will soon lose their cough. Harold coming to stay while his mother goes to London with her mother. Seems like spring today. Elsie said she got on alright with her cooking but did not like the place or the people and was not at all comfortable. ‘I knew she would not find Puttenham in some things.’ Have not had any eggs to mention for weeks but hope to get some from pullets. Expect Joyce likes to come home to see you all at the week end even if she is happy at school. And Willie too. Elsie is gone off with her dogs for a run.
