‘…we at a loss to understand what cause you have for writing as you have done threatening a Chancery suit because we submit to you that when a special agreement … is made for insurance in a specified sum the covenant ought not to be extended beyond the liability to expend the amount received.’ It might be well to submit the matter to the Law Society. Cannot involve Mr Matthews in a Chancery suit when he can avoid it for a few shillings a year. ‘Will thank you to restore the covenant as originally drawn.'
