  • Title
Indenture between: (i) Thomas Brome esquire and Nicholas Himlocke, gentleman, two of the commissioners appointed in respect of the bankruptcy of Thomas Bigg of Luton; (ii) Edmond Halsey alias Chambers of Throckyn (Throcking, Herts) Alleged that "Thomas Bigg hath fought to get his living by buying and selling of linen and woollen cloth etc at his late dwelling house and shop in Luton" for many years and is deeply in debt to his creditors, and in the previous February had sought to delay their demands for payment. The commissioners found he had at that time one capital messuage with garden and dovehouse with appurtenances in Luton and an estimated 5 acres of land valued at £210. Commissioners sold this property to Edmund Halsey for 40 shillings; Halsey was then to sell the property and repay the sums owed by Thomas Bigg to his creditors.
