Title
Notes on the life of Theodore Harris of Leighton Buzzard and his family by Deborah Margaret Barrow, his grandaughter. Born at Stoke Newington in 1832, Theodore Harris moved to Leighton Buzzard in 1852 to work in Bassett's Bank. He subsequently became a JP, High Sheriff in 1888, County Alderman 1889-95 and an MP. He opened a 'penny bank for the poor' and helped to found the Working Men's Club and Institute in Leighton Buzzard.
He was a Quaker. He married first Ann Deborah Wilson who died 1868, then Gertrude Russell, daughter of Lord Charles Russell who died 1877, then Henrietta Doyle.
The family lived in The Cedars, High Street from 1877.
