    Book of personal expenses Small notebook. Family names are mentioned in relation to money spent on them. Gambling activities are recorded. A number of entries detail payments made to individuals identified by first name only, likely servants. 1938, Henrietta gave £67.5. 0 for Anne's operation and £75 for her school (Nicholas's daughter) Dividends on investments are given for example in 1938 Sunday Pictorial 13/2, Ashanti £34.15.7 and International Paint £36.8.0. Some new investments have been added: Bibiani and 100 more Ashanti shares for £300 Henrietta pays school fees for her grandchildren: Charterhouse £72.10 (for John) and Benendon £72.10 (for Anne). It also seems that she pays Nicholas's rent (p39) and his children's nanny's wages (see enclosed letter from Nick to 'Dearest Mama' sent from RAF Scampton. In this letter Nick also says 'I do not want a big bank balance before the case comes on' which may refer to his divorce.
