    Comments about Napoleon's desire for an heir and whether Princess Charlotte could be a wife for him. Thanks for doe venison. Hopes there has been no more confusion regarding use of the opera box. Mention of the Persian ambassador [Mirza Abul Hassan Khan]. Writer is going to meet the Boringtons at Kingston [John Parker, 2nd Baron Boringdon and wife Frances], then will stay one day at Wilton House before returning [home of George Herbert, 11th Earl of Pembroke]. Will move to Privy Garden in about a month. Writer has been reading Gil Blas ['Histoire de Gil Blas de Santillane', by Alain-René Lesage]. Makes comments. Pleased to hear Miss Mary Thompson is to be married 'according to her own advice and the approbation of her friemds to Mr [Claudius] Buchanan. The writer hears he is a great Oreintalist and an excellant man. 'How odd that all three sisters should have married men connected with India.'
