- Scope and ContentMr Thomson [depositor] has also two diaries kept by his grandmother, but the entries are very brief; these have also been wirtten up in the Beds Times. The rest of the book is almost entirely blank, till th Cash Account, where there are a few items, such as "Paid Mother"; "Decanters 6s"; "stockings 7s 6d"; "lase 5s 6d"; "stays 7s." On front flyleaf: "Martchiness of harford; straw mattress taking out of room" The other is the Christian Lady's Pocket Book, 1803, similar in make-up, but all the diary pages have been cut out. There are a few accounts at the end in faint pencil, beginning: "Expences in travling: Carier to St. Neots 3s ginger ------ 6d Carier to Cambr 3 6 Expences road 1 0 Mr Smith's Bill 1 15 0 Carag to Waton 10 0 expences on road 11 0 Carage to Norwitch 5 0 expenses at Do 5 6 --------- 3 7 6 The other items asr mostly difficult to make-out, but they include "goods at Norwitch", and perhaps all relate to expenses incurred during a visit to Norfolk relatives.
