- Scope and ContentAssumes Mr & Mrs C Yorke are with Lady Lucas; hope this will interrupt meditations over the gardener's accounts. Mr [Reginald] Carew has studied the part of Lady Lucas' letter which relates to that subject, but before he can say anything would ask certain questions, such of the such as the duration of the harvest wages, the pay of children and women; the writer thinks it best explianed when they meet. The venison proved excellent. Writer's father las been well lately. Comments on the health of the rest of the family. Was sorry to find that Mr & Mrs J [John] Buller had been called away from Forthampton on the day after their arrival by his mother being taken alarmingly ill. Understands they found the immediate danger removed, thought the complaint seems to have been severe, and by no means relieved. [Refers to Anne Buller, nee Lemon]. Asks if it correct that the Bishop and Mrs Yorke are not returning to Ely during the autumn. [James Yorke, Bishop of Ely and wife Mary].
