  • Scope and Content
Writer considers herself better on the whole, but still a great deal of strength is wanting. On Tuesday, writer was in the field for 4 or 5 hours in a broiling sun to see His Majesty review three regiments of cavalry who are part of the local encampment. Tomorrow is going to see the whole review. 'Hitherto we have not been molested by any of the followers of the camp, nor are we acquainted with any of the officers - whether we shall be so in time I know not...' Mention of Lady Lucas sending venison, with details for delivery. Husban and son left yesterday. Have only Mrs Baker staying, for the limits of the house do not admit much more. Have been greviously disappointed by the repeated rumours of good news and great news from the Mediterranean, and begins to fear it will not come. Heard of Lady Grantham in Town last week, but did not have an opportunity to see her.
