Notes on the manors of Clifton. The manor of Clifton, which had merged with Lacies or Clifton, came by descent to the St. Johns until 1602 when they sold to Walter Rolt. The Rolt family then bought a third manor in Clifton from Francis Russell in 1617. (V.C.H.)
The article then traces the descent of the Bury Estate and Clifton Manor House and gives a pedigree showing the connection between the Rolts and the Symcotts.
