  • Scope and Content
Writer is very well, and considers this due to Sir William Knighton's draughts, which he taught the writer to make - a great saving from the apothecary who charges 18 pence each draught, whereas the writer can make it up for 3 pence. As the writer often takes two in the day, it is a saving of half a crown a day. Sorry Lady de Grey does not feel better for visit to Tunbridge, though is not surprised - 'a stomenco[?] is an incurable evil and so are nerves.' Mrs [Louisa] Champernowne has arrived in Town with her 8 children. [Daughter of John Buller and Elizabeth, nee Yorke; granddaughter of Mary Yorke]. She lives in Bulmer Street. Some way further on Lady Buller (from India) is living with 10 children. The Glanvilles and Elizabeth Carew are expected from Paris next Saturday. Mrs Glanville expects to be confined next month. Floresi[?] has appeared again and taken possession of his old quarters in Edward Street (Mrs Colleton's house). He is very much improved in drawing and has done trees from nature uncommonly well. Mention of an operation performed by Astley Cooper which was not entirely successful, though unlclear as to the identity of the patient. Lady Margaret Cocks does not look well.
