- Scope and ContentLetter from Mrs James Yorke [Mary] gave a good account of Catherine's health and activity. 'It seems there is now a constant intercourse betwen the court and cottage, which appears very odd since would hardly have thought it possible from all one has heard.' Quotes comments from Mary Yorke's letter relating to her 'companion' [Son Joseph, now living with Mary Yorke.]. Mary talks of paying a visit to Eastnor and to Mrs Plumer at Malvern; after that she plans to go to Bircham. Mrs Colleton has gone to visit at Antony; she will remain a month before returning to London to prepare for going back to Italy. Believes Philip Yorke will be of her party as he will have leave of absence of 3 months at about that time. The King returned yesterday and today the writer had a visit from William Knighton; 'the excursion seems to have been answered in every way and the King is very well.' The Morning Herald reported that Lord & Lady Grantham had arrived at Constantinople on their way to Egypt. Mention of books - writer has been reading 'Sketches of the character, manners, and present state of the Highlanders of Scotland' by Colonel David Stewart, which she found very interesting.
