Photocopy of lithograph 'The Bedford Times coach' by Bradford Rudge (1805-1885) with the characters identified. The information came from John Wyatt of Cheltenham whose great uncle's step grandfather features in the picture. Characters include:

Mr Tucker of Mill Street
Mr William Williams of agricultural implement manufacturers, Sanders and Williams, High Street
Fyshe Palmer Esq, an alderman at the time who lived at Castle Hill
Rev Thomas Sier (Syer), vicar of Ravensden who lived at The Cottage, Goldington Road
Charles Higgins Junior who became landlord of the Swan Inn on the retirement of his father
Possibly George Peter Livius JP who died 1856
Rt Hon Lord Ongley of Mount Pleasant, Old Warden with his liveried servant
Possibly Charles Higgins, landord of the Swan Inn standingin the doorway -or it may be an unnamed banker who often stayed at the Swan
Possibly Lilley, a fishmonger who lived opposite the Swan and acted as occasional porter
J Serjeant may be the head hostler
