  • Title
Letter from Anne Barker, sent from Hemel Hempstrad, to Amabel Hume-Campbell, Lady Polwarth. Reference to the death of Lady Rivers. She died at Massa de Carrara [Tuscany area, Italy]. Her illness was a rheumatic fever of two weeks, during which time she sent for her son in law Mr Beckford, who was at Florence, and also to an English clergyman, so the writer has the consolation to think she was not left entirely to foreigners.
