Letter from Anne Barker, sent from London, to Amabel Hume-Campbell, Lady Polwarth. Writer did not attend the Pantheon Fete but was at Mrs Hobarts, and much pleased with the novelty; describes the event, which she did not leave until three in the morning. All were presented with an elegant bouquest tied with ribbon. The sinking of the floor at Boulton House - 'the fact certainly was so, and I am told the ceiling below the great room where the damage appeared fell in.' Reference to the health of Alexander Hume-Campbell. 'I apprehend Lord Marchmont's accident and unpleasant one, but he gets better and my sister tells me she is well.' Mrs Lake [daughter] has left London and settled her family at Aston [Aston-Clinton, Buckingham]. Writer enjoyed her visit to Mr & Mrs Edward Barker [son and wife]. Lady Donegal [Charlotte Chichester] is well, but must go to Bath again in the autumn to keep so. Has received a letter from Lady Rivers [Penelope Pitt], arrived at Lyons; also a letter from Madame de Laval lamenting Lady Rivers' departure from Nice. According to Lady Rivers, Madame Rosenhanger is in quite a decline. Madame de Laval informs of the departure of their old governor and that is is conjectured he will not return. The eldest Miss Hinde has married her choice, a Mr Whitbread, a nephew of the brewer. [Jacob Whitbread married Elizabeth Hinde]. Mr Legg is soon to marry Miss Larson
