    "I commend my soul ... etc." to son William a cottage in Ampthill in occupation of Thomas Bigg, which he has on mortgage, or alternatively sums due on the mortgage if it is redeemed to daughter Elizabeth, wife of Robert Phillips of R[edbour]n, Hertfordshire 1s, as she has already had a sufficient portion to daughter Sarah Bedcott, executrix, (to whom residue) 2 messuages in Ampthill, one known as the Unicorn is in occupation of Samuel Wright, the other the messuage where testator dwells; also a cottage in Millbrook in occupation of Thomas Keens to grandsons William, Robert, Michael, John, Thomas and Joseph Phillips £10 each and granddaughter Elizabeth Phillips £10 (to be paid out of the £80 their father Robert owes to testator on bond; the remaining £10 to daughter Sarah) to granddaughters Sarah Bedcott, daughter of son William; and Elizabeth Phillips each a silver spoon and 6 pewter plates witnesses: John Findlay, William Pedder, Samuel Wright
