Small amount of pre-tender correspondence. Letter for 3 Feb 1969 gives principal architect for the school as Trevor Wall and the job architect John Pyne. Letters of 13th and 20th Feb 1969 from Biggleswade Urban District engineer re size of soakaways to be constructed. Appointment of quantity surveyors. Award of tender details. Notes of preliminary meeting with Messrs Walker & Hawkes 24/4/69. Letter re. decision not to bring the town's gas to the school due to 'the exorbitant price being asked by the Eastern Gas Board', 20 May 1969. Copy of site plan with existing gas, water and elecricity services marked. Inspection of foundation beams. Letter from the county architect to the Biggleswade UDC engineer asking for any comment regarding the 'method of entry of the two inch diameter discharge pipe from our pumping station into your manhole in Hitchmead Road. It is proposed to lay this discharge pipe 2'6" below ground level.' 5 Dec 1969. Reply from Biggleswade UDC engineer explaining that they intend to demolish the existing prefabs and that the opportunity will be taken to improve and realign the 'present narrow access road...it is suggested that the origianlly intended line of your outlet be changed and that this be taken into an existing manhole at a main drain/sewer situated in the rear garden of a bungalow. It is further suggested that your delivery pipe discharge first into a new manhole constructed in the existing roadway and from thence a 6" diameter gravity connextion be made to the invert of the existing manhole.
