- Scope and ContentMemorandum from the director of eduction to the county architect, 10 Aug 1966. School required for 100 pupils aged 7 - 16. Details the sports facilities required in addition to the school site. Plan showing proposed location with copy of covering letter to the county land agent asking whether the land in question can be declared surplus to smallholding requirements. County planning officer's response to the proposal. Correspondence re. planning and the diversion of a farm track - the farm track is required to be tarmacaded as farm vehicles transport over 3,000 tons of produce per year along the track and some of the vehicles have loads of 30 tons, 8 Sept 1967. 'From a Town Planning point of view, and bearing in mind that the prefabricated bungalows in Stratton Way have a limited life only and on demolition will make possible a satisfactory outlet to Stratton Way, it may also be desirable to consider leaving provision for a full width roadway along this section.' 25 June 1968. Correspondence re. establishing exact boundary of the council's land. Letter from the county architect re. trial borings which showed no water in 24 hours at 7'6". Proposes to take surface water to soakaways but in view of the rumoured flooding would be interested to know if the Biggleswade UDC engineer anticipates any problems with this proposal. 5 Nov 1968. Reply from Biggleswade UDC engineer 'no knowledge of the site having ever been liable to flooding. Memo to the county land agent. Hopes building will commence by end of March 1969. At present majority of the land is down to cabbage but trusts that these will be harvested in time. Diversion of bridleway. Diversion of underground telegraphic line around the site of the school. Copy of letter confirming diversion of road complete, 24 July 1969. Copy of letter to the Biggleswade UDC engineer asking for confirmation to agreement to rising main being connected directly to the existing manhole.
