Unable to go to London last Sunday as the writer's sister was taken extemely ill with a bowel complaint, which continued with such violence, and so weakened her, that it was impossible to go to London; the writer would not leave her. She is now recovered, but still weak.

The writer wishes to know whether it is the old man she has heard of, or whether he is dead and that estate belongs to some other Mr Egerton. [William Egerton married Mary Wilbraham Bootle]. Death of Col. Blackwood; he went to Switzerland at the beginning of the summer for his wife's health, but did not live long after they arrived there. Peter Lawrie is to be made a sergeant.
