- Scope and ContentDr Fordyce gave a comfortable account of Alexander's health. Plan to go to Hemel Hempstead for a week when 'my Lord' has leave. Col. [James] Pringle intends to vacate his seat in Parliament immediately [had been MP for Berwickshire since 1761]. Sir John Paterson will be elected to take his seat. The dismal situation of Sir Robert [Pringle] makes it necessary for Sir James to be near home. Captain Gore is to be married to a wine merchant's daughter, and intends leaving the army. His family are much displeased. Mrs Lake's son has been very ill with a fever.
