  • Scope and Content
'Both Edward and Miss Lockman are very good creatures and I hope will be very happy, but how far is it prudent for a young man of five and twenty that will have a very slender income, to set down quite without business of any sort, is another consideration.' [Edward (Ned) Barker married a Miss Lockman, daughter of Rev John Lockman, canon of Windsor] Believes there is a prospect of Mrs Lake 'giving us another little relation, but not before the beginning of next year.' Much obliged to Lord Hardwicke for the offer of venison. 'I must now prepare for court, and assure you that the dressing in a great hoop, this very hot close day, is a forminable affair and will require some time to perform.' James Ogilvy, 7th Earl of Findlater is married to Christina Teresa Murray, daughter of Sir Joseph Murray, 3rd Baronet, whom the writer saw at Spa.
