  • Scope and Content
Comments about Lord Elibank [Patrick Murray, 5th Lord Elibank] being very unlucky that people should pick out a piece of nonsence to carry as far as Paris. 'It shows you how careful you should be of what one says in mixed company...' 'You will do with your chaise what you think proper on the spot; and if you get your journey in it, that will be part of its value.' Lord Milton [Joseph Damer] on some dispute gave Earl Poulett [Vere Poulett, 3rd Earl Poulett] a box on the ear some days ago, they were then stopped, but have fought with pistols again this morning and Lord Poulett's first shot has wounded the other in the breast, as it is thought mortally.'
