Scope and Content
- to grandchildren Peter, Sarah, Elizabeth, Frances and Jane Woodward £10 each to put them out apprentices to be paid by executor as they severally arrive at the age of 12 years.
- to grandchildren George, Peter, Sarah, Elizabeth, Frances and Jane Woodward £100 each to be paid as follows:
If son John Woodward's wife Elizabeth should outlive him then £50 part to be paid to each of the grandchildren within 6 months after the death of son John and the remaining £50 to be paid 6 months after the death of son's wife Elizabeth. If Elizabeth die before John then the whole £100 to be paid to grandchildren within 6 months after death of John. If any grandchild dies befor marriage or under the age of 21 then their £100 to be split between the surviving grandchildren. Appoints grandson Thomas Woodward trustee for the grandchildren during their respective minorities and to place the money at interest and to apply the same to their benefit as he may think proper before their marriage or coming of age.
- to son John Woodward a yearly sum of £30 to be paid weekly for the maintenance of himself, wife and children during his life and after his death to Elizabeth his wife during her life annuity of £10 to be paid on quarter days.
Residue of estate to grandson Thomas Woodward. Appoints grandson Thomas Woodward executor.
[Annotations that Peter not put to apprenticeship and had his £10, Frances and Jane not apprenticed the two £10 to be paid to them. George and Peter paid £100 each. Sarah died and legacy split between George, Peter, Frances and Jane & Thomas. Elizabeth died in life of testator. Jane married 1788 Wm Woolfrey [?]. Elizabeth wife of testator’s son John died in the life to the testator. John Woodward died 21 Dec 1781
