Fine passage from Calias to Dover took five hours. Journey from Antwerp was most agreeable, without any difficulties.

    Describes journey. Met Miss Osgood and Dr. Watson during the journey. Elizabeth was given a small dog, 8 months old. On arrival in England heard that Windmill Crompton had been very ill; he is now pretty well recoverd. Aunt Barker is still with Mr Pitt. Ned Barker is in Town at the academy - he expects to sail for the East Indias in January. The postilian lies at the point of death with a putrid fever. Hugh Hume-Campbell hopes Alexander is settled in his winter quarters. Gives Alexander advice for his studies. 'In order to you success in this concluding campaign of your universtiy education your health must be in the first place perpetually attended to..'
