    I was mistaken in Lord Irnham's opposing Mr Wilkes. [Refers to Simon Luttrell, Baron Irnham, later 1st Earl of Carhampton]. It is Col. Luttrell, his son Henry Lawes Luttrell, later 2nd Earl of Carhampton] Mrs Pratt has died of consumption, leaving three children. Took Miss Bland to a play on Saturday. Hears that the English in Geneva have set up a hunt; the writer thinks they might employ their time to more purpose. Lady Boston [Albinia Irby, nee Selwyn] has died after two days illness, from a bad sort of sore throat. 'In this kind of sore throat, bleeding is certain death, so I beg if you ever have anything of that sort, you will on no account be bloodied, but use a gargle of sage tea, honey, ginger and red wine.' 'My Father [Windmill Crompton] thinks his face is greatly mended.
