  • Scope and Content
'A friend of mine who has a very great regard for your Lordship tho' not much known to you, has given me a paper containing what ought to have been done immediately upon your marriage, and what should be done now to prevent further mischeif from that neglect. He says it was the duty of the trustees for the execution of the marriage articlesa Mr Charles Nelson Cole and Mr Henry Dagge to have got the Scotch part of the articles executed accouring to the terms of the Scotch law, and that they ought still to do it. I have writ to Lady Gray that I will send her that paper for Lord Hardwicke if she thinks it will be agreeable, and that I think the two above named trustees, whom I don't know, should consult with a Scotch lawyer, and that all should be carried on in their names. I mentioned the Lord Advocate of Scotland as a proper person, he being now in London. I desired her to let me know as soon as possible if I shall send the paper, which being writ by a lawyer (who are always long) will make two or three packets, and I wish Lord Hardwicke may understand it, there being some Scotch law terms in it.If Lord H. enters into this plan, which I think he should, it may be carried on without your meddling in it at all.'
