  • Scope and Content
Some of the venison was sent to Mr Broome. At present he is tolerably well, but has no strength. He is going to make a for a little change of air to Mr & Mrs Berrow near Upton. In the meantime his daughters are going to visit their grand papa and mama Salmon. All will return in about a fortnight. The baby at Reigate goes on well, and the mother nurses it. [Refers to Charles Somers Cocks, son of John Somers Cocks and Caroline Harriet, nee Yorke]. Lord Somers informed the writer that through his means a Captain Bennett had been promoted to the command of the Cygnet, and having offered to take charge of any midshipmen, Lord Somers thought of the writer's grandson Reginald Yorke. The Regent's present of a house etc to Mrs Wall, our old neighbour, is in Bushy Park, very near to the Duke of Clarence's. It has 12 acres of land to it. Many workmen are now employed about the house.
