Copy of letter from Henry Longuet Higgins to George D Farrer, Brayfield House. Rev H H Higgins regrets to hear that the river has lately been so low as to cause annoyance but feels there is no liability on his part to undertake the impossible task of regulating the bed of a river such as the Ouse, 'in the vain hope of preventing it from being exceptionally low in exceptionally dry weather and flooded after heavy rain.'
