  • Title
Went to Bedford to see the Engineer about the ground needed for the Bedford Station and other parts of the line. The quantities have been agreed - will send the Statement to Certify when signed and he (Haedy) can receive the balance due from the Company. Land at St Leonard's is a little over ten acres, but more may be needed. "Hudson's Bedford and Leicester Line to join the London and York at Hitchin comes plump into the old house at St Leonard's, and the new Line to Cambridge bears quite down upon the "Cygnet", so that bird will be completely between two fires, unless they remove the Station further away and about the site of St Leonard's. Mr Pearse observed that they have the prospect of becoming "a second Wolverton"."
