    Bedfordshire County Council Luton-Bedford Reconstruction A6: Luton - Bedford Main Road. Drawing No L58. Section of A6 heading North through Elstow. Plan shows High Street, Elstow, Cottages on right hand side of road face fields and Elstow Abbey behind, with Church End slightly further along on the left hand side of the A6. (Church End leads to the Moot Hall, behind cottages on the High Street, then onto Elstow Abbey.) West End the road leading off the top of the map, and the Red Lion public house stands opposite on The High Street. Elstow School is also marked on the map, towards the right hand side of plan, with John Bunyan's Cottage marked opposite. (School has now moved to a modern building in Elstow and the old school is now a private house. Elstow War Memorial stands at the front of the former school grounds.
