- Scope and ContentHas written to the Dowager Lady Somers [Anne Cocks], who is going to Swaffham at the request of poor Sir Charles and Lady Watson, who are every day in expectation of hearing by the next ships of the death of their eldest son. Has asked Lady Somers to send the papers about the East Indias to St. James' Square. Thanks Lady Lucas for her offer of house and apartment which wil be so comfortable for the writer; hopes to be in Town on Saturday 14th if convenient. Would be grateful if the porter could order a kilderkin of small beer - the writers man servant will pay the bill. Means to hire a cook who can come if needed, but will be better to do with own maid, who can boil a chicken and make a small pudding.
