Thanks for venison which was shared with the Dowdeswell family, Mrs Wall, Mrs Parsons and a gentleman friend that Mrs Parsons brought with her. Colonel Wall could not join the party as travelling to Brighton to pay his compliments to the Princess of Wales nearly cost him his life: he was seized with an inflamation and obstruction of the bowel and is not yet out of danger. He is colonel of the South Gloucester Militia.

- Scope and ContentLetters form Lord Hardwicke report that they have benefitted from the sea air, but Lady Hardwicke remains weak and could not take so much of the waters as she intended, owing to her frequest headaches. Wheat harvest has been got in with great success. P.S. Mention of the christening of both neices Colleton, [Charlotte Jemima and Annabel Charlotte] with six godparents. Has just heard that Colonel Wall is worse. [Lt. Col. John Wall died Oct 1808]
