- Scope and ContentRev. Brownlow Yorke and his 3 sisters have arrived at Downhome. The eldest sister [Dorothy] is the daughter of the first wife [Elizabeth Yorke, nee Cust], the two others [Diana and Lucy Margaret] are by the second wife, lately dead [Diana Yorke, nee Wynne]. 'These poor girls without father and mother and removed so many miles from their native home to be placed here at my elbow in the fens of Ely, in Dr Waddington's house.' [Brownlow Yorke was the son of Philip Yorke (1743–1804), a Welsh politician and antiquary, and kinsman of Philip Yorke, 1st Earl Hardwicke]. Asks if Lady Hardwicke is returning to Dublin, or Lord Hardwicke to England. Reginald Cocks is set out for Penzance. Colonel Cocks of the Guards is in some expecation sooner or later of being sent to the continent.
