  • Scope and Content
Mention of Dr Gooch, aged 75, who was thought for 2 days to be dying of 'a mortification on his leg' but is now recovering due to the skill of Sir Isaac Pennington and the powers of bark and red wine. The Bishop has taken under his wing a Mr Jones on the recommendation of the Bishop of Lincoln. Lady Mary Mordaunt has given Jones her patronage, and the writer enquires if Lady Lucas knows of her, and if credit can be given to her word respecting Jones.
