Our Ambassadress [daughter Elizabeth Margaret Stuart] arrived a Pau without any alarm or even knowing that such fearful things are going on in Paris. She will continue her intended tour in the Pyrenees, being better there than in Paris at the present time. [Reference to the July Revolution, which led to the overthrow of King Charles X]. Speculates where the ill-fated Bourbons will go. Cambridgeshire election – Lord Francis Osborne [Francis Godolphin Osborne, 1st Baron Godolphin] and [Henry John] Adeane came in and Lord Charles Manners is thrown out. ‘The new members will be of use in the business of the county which was much wanted.’ ‘We have been here alone not meddling in the elections, having only Henry [Reginald]Yorke with us, his little bit of a living being on the Hertfordshre border.’
