- Scope and ContentThe weather is damp and cold, having to light a fire before the sun sets, as if it were midwinter. There have also been thunder storms. On Thursday there was a tornado in Cirencester, which rooted up 5 or 6 fine old oaks at Lord Bathursts. Daughter Caroline is much better, though still subject to returns of her complaints; she is going to Exmouth soon to bathe, which the writer hopes will benefit her health. Hopes Lady Grantham will benefit from her sojourn to Ramsgate.
