Reference to the engagement of Elizabeth, about which Lady Hardwicke had told the writer in secret, but is now common knowledge and has been in the newspaper. [Elizabeth Margaret Yorke married Charles Stuart, Baron Stuart de Rothesay, 6 February 1816]. It is likely the couple will spend a good deal of time in Paris [Charles Stuart was Ambassador to France between 1815 and 1824], and be visited by family members. General family news, including reference to Mrs James Yorke and family. Gives account of Lord Valletort being attacked on the road between Rome and Naples [gives details]- writer hopes the adventure has cured him of travelling in Italy for a while.' Reference to stories/rumounrs relating to 'La Regina' [Caroline of Brunswick] in Italy. Mention of Princess Charlotte's rejection of William, Prince of Orange as a husband and wonders if there is a suitable match left for her.
