- Date free text25 Aug 1806
- Production dateFrom: 1806 To: 1806
- Scope and ContentReference to storms; near Wimpole the lightning set fire to a barn at Arrington and injured two men. In Bath the storm lasted 12 hours; the writer was 'shaken and agitated.' Does not remember such storms since 1783. The writer remains in Bath to make use of the baths for an attack of rheumatic spasms which have made her lame and feeble, and will remain 'till the door of Sydney Lodge is open to receive me again.' Is in daily expectation of hearing from the tenant that his family are ready to move, which the writer is told will be as soon as the lady has recovered from her lying in and able to undertake the journey to Staffordshire. The writer has another grandson [possibly refers to Charles Eurwicke Douglas, illegitimate son of Charles Philip Yorke]. General enquiries about the whereabouts of family memebers. Mention of a public dinner at Wimpole. Reference to the health of Mr Fox.
