- Scope and ContentSmall file of research notes and transcripts made by Andrew Underwood relating to the Flitt Cycle Co. and Flitt Motor Co., (the businesses owned by his grandfather Albert Grimmer) and some other Ampthill businesses. The file includes: a photocopy of an article from the Town & Country News from July 1932 regarding the Flitt Motor Co.; a photocopy of a letter from the Home Office from November 1914 licencing the use of Ampthill Polo Ground as an aerodrome for airmen authorised by the Flitt Cycle Co. [original letter can be found at ref. X291/254/10]; a transcript of a valuation of the business of George Allen Machinery & Plant which was based in Church Street, Ampthill; a photocopy of an old, undated article from the Ampthill News regarding the chemicals business Stafford Allen and Sons Ltd, originally started by Charles May. This latter was based on an interview with Harry Ashman, who had worked at the factory.
