- Scope and ContentCondolence on death of Lady Lucas' friend Mrs Wray. Mrs Jeffereys must have been shocked, and will probably not long outlive her sister. Asks what will become of Mrs Wray's servants, particularly her maid. The writer does not particularly want a servant at present, 'tho I am not quite satisfied with the one I have, and if I could meet with one more to my mind I would not be sorry to change.' Mrs Carew's youngest boy has been dangerously ill. Comments on political situation. Mention of when Lord Grantham will return from his travels. Hopes to visit Tyttenhanger in the summer; it is the only chance of of 'enjoying any comfort in my son's society' as he is busy in London with state affairs. The writer will be sorry if Lord St.Vincent goes out of the Admiralty, especially if Lords Melville, Westmoreland or Pelham come in, as she considers them unfit.
