Ann Collins was the daughter of George Hawes gent, and by her will dated March 22nd 1682 gave to the Corporation of Bedford, £30 a year, for the maintenance of ten poor widows belonging to the St Paul's parish, being ancient inhabitants of good character, and diligent resorters to divine worship. {Hankin's list of public charities 1828.]
