  • Scope and Content
Will complete any papers relating to assessed taxes - any sent to Lady Lucas should be forwarded to the writer. Under the assessed tax act Mr Harrison should be returned as a steward, his services being dedicated chiefly to Lady Lucas' affairs; if William Wyman is employed as a bailiff or clerk under Harrison, he should be likewise returned. Does not consider Jervis of Wiggins should be returned, as their services are not chiefly for Lady Lucas. The phrase 'occasional waiter' applies to tavern or inn-keepers. Has received the completed paper for Elizabeth Ann Gillman [for the London Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb] and will send it to the asylum. Reference to land at Henlow which was John Hobbs; writer would like to see the papers and will request them from Harrison.
