Scope and Content
In the name of God, amen! I George Dickins of Risely in the County of Bedford, Bricklayer, do make make this my last will and testament as follows. First I give and devise all and singular my messuages cottages closes lands and tenements scituate (situate) and being in Risely aforesaid unto Mary my dearly beloved wife by her freely to be possessed and enjoyed so long as she lives and remains my widow. And from and after the time of her marriage or decease I give and dispose thereof in the following manner (that is to say) I give and devise all those my two messuages or tenements and close of pasture ground thereto adjoyning (adjoining) and belonging now in the occupation of Samuel Hart and John Dawson with all and every of their appurtenances unto my son George Dickins and to his heirs and assigns for ever he paying unto my daughter Mary Dickins the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain within three months next after the marriage or decease of Mary my said wife And I do hereby charge the said messuages or tenements and close of pasture ground with the payment thereof. Also I give and devise all those my two messuages or tenements now in the occupation of George Dickins the elder and Isaac Dickins with all and every of their appurtenances unto my son Philip Dickins and to his heirs and assigns for ever he paying unto my daughter Priscilla Dickins the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of Great Britain within three months next after the marriage or decease of Mary my said wife. And I do hereby charge the said messuages or tenements with the payment thereof. Also I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Priscilla Dickins the sum of ten pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her out of my personal estate within three months next after the marriage or decease of Mary my said wife. Lastly I give and bequeath all and singular the residue of my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto Mary my said wife whom I make and appoint full and sole executrix of this my last will and testament whereunto I have set my hand and seal the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine.
Signed sealed published and declared by teh said George Dickins the testator as and for his last will and testament inthe presence of us three who have set our names as witnesses in the presence of the said testator and of each other
