  • Scope and Content
Sends return for the parish of St.James under the Property Tax Act, which requires signature. The farms which will be out of lease in Essex at Michaelmas are: Mile End Hall: Joseph Posford, late rent £105; improved rent £200. Greenstead Park: Edward Clay; late rent £90; improved rent £255 including 2 pieces of land taken from Mrs Day at an annual value of £5 or less. This farm is tithe free. Aldham Farm: Richard Francis: late rent £45; improved rent £85. There are two other occupations, Marsh Farm held by Charles Clay and Bourne Mill held by Mrs Wright, but Mr Firmin has no survey to compare with that which the writer had made; the letting is therefore dererred for a short time. The writer is satisfied that the new rents agred are fair rents. Vince's farm is still held under the direction of his assignees; if it is not given up sooner notice to quit will be given before Lady Day. The Living of Fordham will be resigned at Michaelmas. The Bishop of London has given to the curate a small living in the neighbourhood of about £100 per annum.
