    [ Bedfordshire Standard, 20 October 1888: Church of England Temperance Society, Blunham, formed a brass band on 12th October, the instruments being presented by the Treasurer, Miss Polhill, and Horace Sharp elected Bandmaster. Bedfordshire Times, 29 December 1888: "Considering that this was their first appearance [carols on Christmas Day & Boxing Day] before the public, everyone seems highly delighted and surprised to find them playing so well ... it reflects great credit on... their excellent instructor Sergeant Keens of Bedford.]
