  • Scope and Content
A handwritten letter from Hannah Austin in Midhurst, Sussex to Albert Grimmer in Ampthill dated 7th May 1937: "Dear Mr Grimmer, Once again I have to thank you for cheque safely received yesterday as you pay years and half years do roll along all too quickly, at the same time I do like to get a letter from you to hear a little how you are getting along, busy as usual I see splendid. You have done marvellous things in your day. Don't knock yourself up by doing too much and don't forget to take a long holiday. How are the family? Not forgetting the little Godson, I do hope well. Ampthill is being changed by buildings, tho I see all is looking smart with Coronations. I expect decorations. My sister and I are going long just about the same. Only getting older. We are often out, spent a nice day at our bungalow at Wittering yesterday where the sun was shining beautifully and are looking forward to being there for Whit Week. As a rule we have our family gatherings there. We did not find the Combes too bad. Certainly there was plenty of rain but not too severe. How does Mr. Webber get along now. I hope in better health than when last I heard. Any news of the Wolveridges. I must not ask any more questions but am just as interested as I ever was. Please find enclosed the usual 5/- with receipt and many thanks. With the kindest of thoughts and kind regards, Faithfully yours, H Austin"
