- Scope and Content'Madam, I have the honour to send your Ladyship on the other side copies of letters I have received from Mr Astle and Mr Darell. I propose to go to Battersea on Tuesday or Wednesday next. Your Ladyship will be pleased to sign the inclosed notice and order the same to be delivered to the Putney collector. Under the Act it may be delivered at the time the payment of tax is required or previous thereto and the house will thereupon be discharged from the Commutation Tax. I have received your Ladyship's note respecting Mr Firmin's remittances - and have written about the game in Leicestershire. Sir, I have heard Mr Morant say that the Register of St. John's Abbey was kept at Wrest; it was lent to him by the late Lord Hardwick about the year 1748 when he transcribed much of it in 3 volumes which are now in my library, and which you may see whenever you will be pleased to call here, together with many particulars respecting the possessions of the said Abbey. Jeffreys and told her the conversation we had together about her annuity in consequence of which she desires me to request you to draw up a case and take the opinion of Sir John Milford the Sol.
